Community Education & Roadside Safety in Columbia, MO
At Doug Perry Towing, our work doesn’t stop at the tow hook. We spend our days on the roadside, and we’ve seen how much a little preparation helps a driver on a bad day. That’s why we take what we know into classrooms, community rooms, and local events, so drivers of every age know what to do before they ever need to call us.
Our education and outreach programs are open to schools, nonprofits, businesses, community groups, and the general public. Whether you’re planning a driver’s ed day, a safety night for your organization, or a community event that could use a tow truck, we’d love to be part of it.

Have a Plan.
The guidance in our accident preparedness brochure covers what to sort out before anything goes wrong, what to think about after it does, and what to do at the scene.
Accident Preparedness
We recommend talking with your insurance agent to review your coverage.
- Do you have rental car insurance? Can you go months without your vehicle if it has been in an accident?
- What coverages do you have: Full, Comprehensive (deer, hail, etc.), or Liability Only?
- Understand what Liability Only means.
Have a Plan
A few items to consider are:
- Is it leaking fluids?
- Are the airbags deployed?
- Is it a clear total loss?
- Does your insurance company have a preferred body shop?
At the Accident Scene
- Keep calm and check for injuries.
- Examine vehicle damage and move out of the roadway if possible.
- Swap insurance information and/or contact law enforcement.
- Gather belongings out of your vehicle (valued items, garage door opener, etc.).
- Contact your insurance company to file a claim. Even if you are not at fault, they will help you through the process.
Mock DUI Crash Scenes
at Local Schools
Around prom season, when the risk of impaired driving among teens goes up, we work with local schools to set up mock DUI crash scenes. These realistic reenactments give students a vivid look at the consequences of driving under the influence and a real reason to make the responsible choice.
We also provide mock DUI scene support for schools and organizations planning their own safety events.
Tow Trucks, Parades
& Game Days
Some of our favorite days on the calendar don’t involve a single tow.
Parades
You’ll find our trucks rolling in local parades, decked out and ready to wave.
Football & Game Days
From the Hallsville homecoming parade to game days around the area, we’ve given local football players a ride on our trucks and cheered on teams across our community.
School & Community Visits
Kids love a tow truck up close. We bring our trucks to schools and community events so kids can see the equipment, ask questions, and learn how roadside help works.
Career Center & Industry Panels
We join career center panels to talk with students about careers in the automotive and towing industry, and what it takes to work the roadside.
